10 YEARS AGO TODAY...

Bill Lofall, commercial fisherman and son of the founder of Lofall, succeeded in pulling a 10-ton bulldozer from 230 feed of water in Hood Canal.  The equipment had slipped off a leaking barge Aug. 9.  Lofall's boat and a 60 foot Port Townsend scow took two days and 57 pulls to get the machinery ashore.

(Note that it was really 57 pulls on the winch per foot to raise the dozer, that was in 230 feet of water)
