Johannes Johannesson Seglem & Kristi Helgesdotter Lovfald
What do you notice about the family name here? It followed the mother's side of the family.
In Norway, a farm was not given. It was only inherited. If the situation was that a daughter was the inheritor than the husband and their children would assume the name of the farm. The children, of course, only having the name until they moved on. The Lofall farm is now owned by Per, who is unmarried. The next person in line is an illigitemate child of the next oldest sibling. He will, at Pers death or unability to farm, assume the property and the name.
